The product image shown on Amazon accurately depicts what your getting, a metal frame bunk bed.
The product arrived in a box much smaller than I would of imagined it would come in. Upon opening I found that everything had been packed tightly together; whoever arranged the product was a master. Unpacking the box and arranging the pieces were very easy. Unwrapping each and every piece from its plastic/foam/cardboard protection though took forever and produced a LOT of waste. I would recommend putting this together before trash day so that your garbage isn't taken up by this packaging.
It took me 4 hours to put this bed together without any assistance. I consider my skills at assembly of this sort above average. Most of the instructions were clear, but some steps could of been explained a little easier; I had to extrapolate some of the steps from the pictures that was shown. Altogether I only put one part of the bed together incorrectly due to the instructions being vague, but it only took me five minutes to fix the problem. After putting it together and getting the mattresses on I found it to be a fairly sturdy bunk bed. It only shakes a little when my kid is bounding around the top bunk.
The only other problem I have with this is that the ladders cant be moved from one side to the other (i.e. from the right side of the bunk to the left). With how the ladders are positioned now, I have to tell my kid to be careful of the ceiling fan when he climes up so he doesn't get thwacked in the head; if the ladder was able to move to the other side, he wouldnt have to worry about it.
